Clear or Ceramic Appliances

Rather than using metal, the attachments may be made from a hard ceramic material to blend in with the tooth colour. This makes them almost invisible and a popular choice for adults. The orthodontic wires can also be tooth coloured to help improve the appearance further. Ceramic fixed appliances can be as effective as conventional fixed appliances at achieving tooth movement. They are often not recommended for the lower teeth if there is a deep bite as the hard ceramic material can damage the upper incisors.
